Brizza is much more than just the name of a place;  it is an emotion, an unforgettable experience.

The 19th century farm buildings have been carefully restored using interesting local materials such as tarstones, traditional flagstones, Sicilian terracotta floor-tiles, precious old decorated wall-tiles and wrought iron.

The old stables and hayloft have been turned into delightful bedrooms, which will charm the most demanding of guests.  Great attention has been paid both to comfort and to every detail of the tasteful furnishings.

In a quiet position, with the nearest houses a few miles away, the farmhouse fits harmoniously into the surrounding countryside, with the wild beauty of the “Cave”, the deep limestone gorges, typical of the area around the town of Modica.  Eroded by rivers over the long centuries, these “Cave" are now covered with the luxuriant vegetation of the Mediterranean maquis and are home to many species of animals and birds.

The Farm

Set in the midst of a vast area of pasture-land dotted with carob, wild olive and almond trees, the farm concentrates on the cultivation of flowers and the growing of a nursery plants.

Great care is taken to ensure that all agricultural activities are carried out with respect for the integrity of the environment.  Use is made of renewable energy sources, such as solar panels for the hotwater supply and a boiler running on ‘sansa’, the residues from olive presses.

Hospitality

Lovingly furnished with great attention to detail, the bedrooms, each with private access and en-suite facilities, are spacious and full of light.

Numerous attractive and comfortable areas are available to guests both inside and outside the house:

the spacious lounge with an open fireplace, satellite television, stereo equipment and a piano;

the dining-room with its old bread oven;

the library;

the courtyard with barbecue facilities;

the garden for open-air breakfasts in the summer.

The Restaurant

Guests will enjoy the best of Sicilian cuisine with dishes prepared following traditional recipes, using the best and the freshest ingredients (fresh oil from local presses, cherry tomatoes from Pachino, local honey, ricotta made from sheep’s milk) not forgetting the wild aromatic herbs to be found in the surrounding countryside: oregano, capers, wild asparagus, wild fennel

Guests can enjoy walking in the “Cave”, the picturesque deep limestone valleys which are to be found near the farm.
